BK Gymnastics was established in 1976 by Ed Konopa and Jim Barish. Both Jim and Ed were former college gymnasts and physical education teachers. Through their experiences they were able to bring quality instruction and teach gymnastics skills to both boys and girls. In 1978, Jim Barish decided to leave BK to continue as a gymnastics coach in both Suffolk and Nassau County. 
Through this, BK continues to offer recreational and competitive classes for both boys and girls.
